The St. Francis Xavier Junior High School, Yapei, is fortunate to benefit from a District Assembly sponsored classroom block, with office and store, and sanitory facilities. The project, which officially commenced in April 2016 and completed early August 2016, was in response to our request to the Central Gonja District Assembly to come to our aid with classrooms for the JHS.

Until now the JHS, which turned out its first batch of candidates in this year’s BECE, was for the past three years, sharing classrooms with the primary school. The situation created a lot of congestion in the St Francis Xavier School, exposing some of the children to hazardous weather conditions since some of them had to sit under trees and sheds. With the completion and handing over of this new classroom block however, the JHS children will move into what is now their proper classrooms and ease the congestion a little bit at the primary school, which still needs a separate block for the Kindergarten children as well.

While still awaiting the official commissioning of the new school building, I would like to use this platform to express sincere appreciation to the Central Gonja District Assembly and Government for being such a wonderful partner in our joint efforts to offer quality basic education to the many children in this deprived part of the country. It is our hope that we will continue this collaboration towards achieving our common goal of proving affordable and accessible quality basic education for all children in this our beloved country.

Thanks to all, and stay blessed!!!
